Excited to see the Selma movie tomorrow and it has me thinking about the true legacy of Dr. King and the civil rights warriors that paved a way for people like me. Also, thinking about how the hard blood stained work and progress of people like Dr. King is under constant attack by the greedy, the powerful, and the racist.
The casualties of this evil and corrupt agenda is best exemplified by the tragic death of a young 12-year-old boy named Deamonte Driver who died because his poor family couldn’t find a dentist to remove a rotten tooth.
Deamonte’s tragic death greatly impacted me and daily motivates me to work everyday to prevent any more “Deamote’s Drivers” to die senseless and easily preventable deaths (mentally and physically) due to poor of educational opportunities, the scourge of mass incarceration, or lack of access to needed healthcare. #PeopleOverPolitics #Selma
